Ceiling Fans
Ceiling fans are a great way to improve the comfort of your home or business.
They help move air throughout a room and provide a secondary method of cooling.
Fans can also be used to create a design theme in a room and add architectural interest.

There are a few things you should consider when choosing the right fan for your home or business.
The first thing to consider is the size of the room and whether or not the ceiling is high enough to accommodate a fan.
Let us assemble and install your next ceiling fan. You have better things to do.
Attic Fans
An attic fan cools and ventilates the attic, bringing the space closer to outside temperatures.
This helps keep that hot air from passing into your primary living space.
Because of this, you will feel more comfortable during the summer and likely not need to run your air conditioning as much.

It has been scientifically proven to cool the attic by an average of 20 degrees in hot climates!
And it will keep your attic dry in the winter, preventing future costly roofing and maintenance issues.

We have lots of experience installing attic fans. Contact us if you would like to receive a quote.
Whole House Fans
A whole house fan is like a big ceiling fan for your entire home.
Instead of just circulating air in one room, it pulls cooler air from outside into the house and pushes the warmer air inside your house up and out through the attic.
This helps cool down the entire house. People often use it in the evening or early morning when the outside air is cooler, so they can cool their homes without using air conditioning.
It's a way to refresh the air in the home and save on energy bills. Hooray!

Did you know that Idaho Power offers a $200 rebate for customers who install a whole house fan?

Bathroom Exhaust Fans
Hiring an electrician to install a bathroom exhaust fan is generally recommended for several reasons. Here are a few things to consider:

-
Safety
-
Building codes
-
Proper venting
-
Positioning
-
Special tools

While many DIY enthusiasts may feel comfortable taking on this project, especially if they have some electrical experience, the stakes for errors can be high.
If you're uncertain about any aspect of the installation, hiring a professional is a safe choice. In other words, you should hire us!

Dedicated Circuits
In simple terms, a "dedicated circuit" is like having a private lane on a highway just for one car. No matter how busy the rest of the highway is, that one car always has its own lane to travel without interference or delay.

In the context of electricity, a dedicated circuit provides power or connectivity to just one specific device or appliance. This ensures that the device gets all the power or connectivity it needs without being affected by other devices.
For example, large appliances like a washing machine or an electric oven might have their own dedicated circuits to ensure they work efficiently and safely.

You can trust us to run your next dedicated circuit.
Outlets & Switches
For someone experienced in DIY home projects and familiar with basic electrical work, adding a simple outlet or switch can be a straightforward project.

There are six main factors to consider:
location, access, circuit capacity, wiring knowledge, safety, and having the right tools.
However, if you're unfamiliar with electricity or the situation is complex, it's always best to hire a licensed electrician.
Making mistakes with electrical work can lead to serious safety hazards, including fires.
We always prioritize safety to ensure the work is done correctly.
Interior & Exterior Lighting
Installing custom lighting can be a fantastic way to personalize your living space, highlight specific features of your home, and create a desired ambiance.
When considering custom lighting, here are the most important factors to take into account:

-
Placement
-
Color temperature
-
Style of fixtures
-
Energy efficiency
-
Budget

Another important factor to consider is whether or not your house has any access (space in the walls and between the floors). Most two-story houses, for example, don't have any access between the first and second floor.

Hot Tub Circuits
Most spas (or hot tubs) require a special electrical setup, and many cannot be plugged into standard household outlets due to their power demands.

Many portable or plug-and-play spas operate on 120V and can be plugged into a standard household outlet. These are usually smaller tubs.

However, many standard-sized and larger spas operate on 240V. They require a dedicated circuit and cannot be plugged into a standard household outlet.

Due to the safety concerns for spas, it's highly recommended to hire a licensed electrician. Improper installations can pose a serious safety hazard, including risk of electrocution and fire. Yikes.

Rewires
Older homes were built at a time when there were far fewer appliances and electronics in homes than today.
As a result, the electrical system in an older home may not be able to safely meet the current demand. If you have any of these issues, then it may be time for a rewire.

-
Hot electrical outlets
-
Loose outlets
-
Two pronged outlets
-
Flickering lights
-
Buzzing sounds
-
Burning odors
-
Constantly tripping breakers
-
Appliances that turn off and on randomly
-
Power failure in an area of the house when no breakers are tripped

We are experts at rewiring old homes.
RV Plugs
Did you know that RVs require special plugs? Here's a rundown:

-
15/20-amp: This is similar to a standard household plug but is used for smaller campers or basic needs.
-
30-amp: This is a three-pronged, circular plug. It provides more power, suitable for larger campers with more appliances and systems.

-
50-amp: This is a larger, four-pronged plug, offering even more power for large RVs with high electrical demands.

We install lots of RV plugs, but each situation is unique depending on how far away the power is from the desired area.
Electrical Panels
An electrical panel, often referred to as a breaker box or service panel, is a crucial component of your home's electrical system. It distributes electricity from the utility company to the various circuits in your home.
Over time or due to specific issues, you might need to replace or upgrade the panel. Here are a few signs or reasons that you need a new electrical panel:

-
Age of the panel (over 25 years)
-
Problems with tripping breakers
-
Fuses instead of breakers
-
Damage or corrosion
-
No empty breaker spaces (full)
-
Buzzing or humming noises
-
Upgrading from 100 to 200 Amps

When in doubt, don't hesitate to give us a call.
Generator Inlets
A generator inlet is a connection point that allows you to plug an external portable generator into a device or system.
In residential applications, it's often used to connect a portable generator to a home's electrical system, typically through a transfer switch.

The transfer switch safely switches the home's electrical feed from the utility company to the generator in the event of a power outage.
This switch ensures that power from the generator doesn't back-feed into the utility lines, which could be dangerous for utility workers.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions.
Doorbells
Replacing a doorbell can be relatively simple, especially if you're swapping out a traditional wired doorbell for another wired model.
However, the process can become more involved if you're installing a smart doorbell or if your home doesn't have the necessary wiring in place.

In cases where you don't have existing doorbell wiring, or if you're unsure about the electrical connections, it might be best to hire a professional (that's us) or consult with one before proceeding.

We can install standard doorbells and Ring Doorbells, of course!

We can take this off your to-do list.

LED Lighting
Upgrading to LED bulbs comes with a range of benefits when compared to traditional incandescent or halogen bulbs.
Here are three primary advantages of LED bulbs:
-
Energy Efficiency: LED bulbs are significantly more energy-efficient using up to 80% less energy to produce the same amount of light.
-
Longevity: LED bulbs have a much longer lifespan compared to other types of bulbs. While incandescent bulbs may last about 1,000 hours, LEDs can last 25,000 hours or more, reducing the need for frequent replacements.
-
Cost Savings: Due to their energy efficiency and longer lifespan, LED bulbs can lead to considerable savings on electricity bills and replacement costs over time.
Custom Homes
Wiring a custom home involves creating a comprehensive plan that details the electrical layout. This includes installing circuits for lighting, outlets, and appliances, ensuring they are connected to the main electrical panel.
Proper gauge wires must be used based on the load they will carry, with safety measures like circuit breakers and grounding to prevent electrical hazards. Additionally, specialized wiring may be needed for systems like heating, cooling, and home automation.
Finally, compliance with local building codes and electrical standards is essential for a safe and functional electrical system.
